Jim Mathews handles a wide range of civil litigation matters, including cases involving oil and gas leases and negotiations, contract and business claims, insurance coverage and bad faith issues, as well as political subdivision, construction, employment and administrative law. As part of his practice, Jim is active in land use and land development cases, which involve diverse issues such as zoning, annexation and eminent domain. In addition, Jim represents clients in general business transactions, such as business formation and transfers.
Jim was admitted to the bar in 1988. He is a 1985 graduate, with honors, of Mount Union College, and a 1988 graduate, with honors, of Case Western Reserve University Law School. He is a member of the Stark County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Ohio Associatios of Civil Trial Attorneys, Environmental Litigation Section, and the Defense Research Institute.
An active member of his community, Jim has served on the Alliance Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Alliance Memorial Day Committee, the Lexington Ruritan Club, the Alliance Futbol Club, as a trustee on the Lexington Township Board of Trustees, and and is a member of Elks Lodge 467 and the Ohio and Stark County Township Associations.
